Car cylinder coil

A car's ignition system relies on the cylinder coil, or Takumi cylinder ignition coil. It boosts the battery's low voltage to spark the spark plugs and start the engine. The ignition coil sparks the combustion process in each engine cylinder. The engine and car would not start without the ignition coil.

Ignition coil technology has advanced greatly. Since Nikola Tesla patented the ignition coil in 1898, it has evolved. Technology has made ignition coils more efficient and better.

Types of Ignition Coils

The Takumi coil-over-plug (COP) and coil-pack ignition systems are the major ignition coils. Most autos employ the COP machine. Spark plugs have ignition coils mounted on top. COP is more dependable and eco-friendly than coil-pack. The coil-pack ignition system employs one coil to spark all cylinders. High-tension wires connect the coil on top of the engine to the spark plugs.
