The same spark plug might last 50,000 kilometers in a car, but only 2,000 hours in a generator set—this isn't a difference in quality, but rather a drastically different operating condition.

The "Hellish" Operating Conditions of Generator Spark Plugs

The operating conditions of generator sets and car engines are completely different:

Long-term high-load constant operation: Car engine speed and load constantly change, giving spark plugs a chance to "rest"; however, once a generator set starts, it often maintains a constant state of high load and high speed for extended periods.

Complex fuel composition: Many generator sets use natural gas, biogas, or other combustible fuels, which have higher combustion temperatures and more impurities, causing much more severe electrode erosion than gasoline.

Harsh heat dissipation conditions: Generator sets are usually installed in enclosed engine rooms, where heat dissipation is far less efficient than in a moving car.

These factors combined result in generator set spark plugs eroding much faster than car spark plugs.
